You only move

Leif ·

Peck is playable in a browser now. It is a playtest, not a release.

You are a Nevermore on a bad night. You have one verb: you move. The bird does its own pecking. Hold the roost, plant stones, hatch Baby Jays, stack powers, and last until dawn.

What you can try

The build on the site is the current playtest. A few things are already in it:

  • From Night 2, a stump needs defending. Stand on it to mend. It can fall without ending the night.
  • From Night 3, runes plant stones (keys 1 to 4, then click the ground) and three eggs call a Baby Jay (C).
  • Gold fills a bar. Each level offers three powers (keys 1 to 3). Some of them stack.

Move with WASD or the arrow keys. Pause with P or Esc. The field guide is ?.

What it is not

No store build, no player counts, and no date. Balance, art, and text will change. The first load is about 56 MB. A desktop browser with a keyboard works best; touch is untested. Progress saves in that browser only. You play as genesis #1, and the playtest does not connect a wallet.

Friday community sessions are still only an idea. If a night feels wrong, that is the feedback we want.

Play the playtest. The page at /peck/ has the controls and a place to send notes. The roadmap still lists Peck as in development, because a playtest is not a ship date.
