A new chat starts hybrid

Leif ·

A new Raven chat starts as a hybrid session. That is X25519 plus ML-KEM-768, and then the messages use ChaCha20-Poly1305.

Everyday chat and Extra lock stay choices. Extra lock is not a stronger post-quantum choice than the hybrid start. I do not want that sentence buried in a settings screen.

Raven Get started screen, with a beta label and a public-beta introduction.
The current web app: Get started. This is the public beta, not an old LocalNet demo.

What is actually pinned

The about page pins this open beta at v0.17.0. The web app stays on this site at /algorand/raven/. raven.corvidlabs.xyz does not serve it. Desktop packages on the about page are still 0.14.2. Those are not the same build as the page in the browser.

Raven is on Algorand MainNet. Sending a message costs real ALGO. You do not need a Nevermore to try it. Encrypted messages may be recorded and become readable later, so do not put something in Raven that you need to keep confidential for a long time.

Older pictures of the app are LocalNet demonstrations. If a screenshot says LocalNet in the corner, that is what it is. The picture above is the current Get started screen.

Open Raven. The longer note is on About Raven, and the roadmap keeps the older pins as history.
